What is an Amtryke?

An Amtryke is a highly customizable, adaptive tricycle designed for individuals—children or adults—with physical or developmental disabilities. It helps promote mobility, strength, coordination, and independence, and is often used as a therapeutic tool.

Who is eligible to receive an Amtryke?

Anyone with a medical or physical condition that makes riding a traditional bicycle difficult or impossible may be eligible. This includes people with cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, Down syndrome, autism, and other conditions affecting balance or coordination.

How do I apply for an Amtryke?

To apply, you need to:

  • Complete an Amtryke Request Form through a qualified therapist.

  • Have the therapist provide a fitting assessment.

How much does an Amtryke cost, and is financial assistance available?

The cost of an Amtryke typically ranges from $500 to over $1,200, depending on the model and customization. Our recipients receive their tryke at no cost, thanks to:

  • Sponsorships from generous donors (thank you!)
